The nights might be darker, but our starlight canopy sparkles even brighter and your whole day will be bursting with warmth and romance. Not to mention that winter wedding dates are great value for money and you usually get your pick of the most in-demand suppliers!
So if you’re considering a winter wedding, we’ve got the perfect styled bridal shoot that’ll make you fall even more in love with this beautiful time of year. From gorgeous, rich colour schemes to crisp blue skies, there’s plenty to inspire you.
THE INSPIRATION
The vision for this styled bridal shoot was to be playful and romantic, featuring a regal and rustic colour palette of gold, burgundy, garnet and sage green.
From stunning seasonal scenery to a gold sequin wall adding a touch of glamour; the inspiration was to incorporate ‘wow factor’ backdrops for a series of fun and flirty photos with the Bride and Groom.
THE VENUE
Set in the quaint Norfolk village of Banham, the shoot was held at Applewood Hall. The hall is situated in the countryside and has a blank canvas marquee lined reception space with a starlight canopy & crystal chandelier. The venue has a connecting ceremony room and a private garden which meant it was a perfect venue for the creative concept of this shoot.
THE STYLING
The creative vision was led by Chloe Edwards, Applewood Hall’s Wedding & Events Manager. Inspired by the reds and golds of the festive season, Chloe wanted the styling to feature bold colours but with a more subtle focus to show how winter weddings can really embrace the romance of this time of year.
She decided to use rustic wood accents and sage green to give a nod to the natural aspects of the countryside surrounding the venue as well as tying in the prominent foliage used within the floral designs.
Chloe worked alongside venue stylist Belles & Beaus, who raided their extensive showroom to provide a wealth of items to add gorgeous rustic details. From the upcycled wooden barrel to display the table plan and the velvet sofas perfect for resting dance-weary feet, to the star feature; a hexagon arch to frame the end of the aisle with trailing Edison bulbs giving a soft romantic glow.
Maximising the spaciousness of the main hall, Chloe and the team set up a seating area with a difference…. lucky enough to have another complimentary venue stylist on board, Bespoke to You supplied a gold sequin wall and a ‘Let’s Party’ neon sign, creating a unique backdrop for those fun photos of the couple.
Chloe wanted a round top table that stood out, so quirky gold reef chargers, burgundy goblets and peacock chairs for the Bride & Groom were set out. Guest tables were a mix of both wooden trestles and clothed rounds with clear gold rimmed chargers and sage green tableware creating a contrasting but striking table layout that brought this regal, yet bohemian banquet set up to life.
The tablescaping was made extra special with the table centre arrangements by Inspired Flower Design, which embraced seasonal blooms such as ruby carnations, champagne roses, garnet astilbe, cream lisianthus and scented eucalyptus.
Rachael Bull Design stationery and Clare Warren’s handwritten calligraphy items completed the final touches, alongside a 4-tier wedding cake supplied by Claire’s Custom Cakes that mirrored the florals used throughout the day.
BRIDE & GROOM INSPIRATION
As this was a winter-inspired photoshoot, Chloe wanted the couple to be in outfits that suited the vision of a fun, free-spirited vibe in keeping with the season. For the Bride, it was something simple and feminine with sleeves and the Groom, a country-style tweed suit.
With this vision in mind, the team at Pure Suit Hire recommended a green tweed 3-piece from the Appleton range for the Groom, with a bow tie and pocket square to compliment the colour scheme.
And the Pure Bridalwear team suggested the beautiful ‘Sicily’ dress from London-based designer Kelsey Rose featuring a flattering A-line skirt, ethereal bodice, flutter sleeves and open keyhole back. Paired with a lace jacket, this gave a romantic boho look with a cool-girl edge.
Hair and make-up matched the femininity of the dress with an intricate, yet subtle, textured bun and stunning hair vine and a natural glowy base with a darker, smoky eye. Michelle Bennett & Stacie Goodwin hit the brief beautifully!
Our models Tom Drake and Aimee Vincent-Bunn are an actual couple, so they really got into their roles and proved to be great in front of the camera!
